Bio

Björn Thelander is a senior investment professional who has spent more than 30 years building and protecting wealth for some of the world’s most substantial families. He advises significant family offices and ultra-high-net-worth families across Europe on investment strategy, portfolio construction, manager selection, governance, risk management and intergenerational wealth stewardship, working with a select number of families and giving each independent advice shaped around their long-term objectives.

His career spans the full breadth of capital and industry. As Chief Investment Officer at Weybourne, he ran a multi-billion-dollar, endowment-style portfolio across private equity, direct investments, hedge funds, public equities, private credit and uncorrelated strategies, quadrupling assets under management, growing the team from seven to eighteen across London and Singapore, and consistently outperforming comparable benchmarks. As Managing Partner and CIO at Lufin Partners, he restructured and rebuilt the liquid and core portfolios of a multi-billion-dollar single family office. Earlier, he founded Thelander Investment Management, launching and running regulated global macro and quantitative funds, and spent sixteen years with Tetra Pak and the Tetra Laval Group, where he reorganised a billion-dollar global equity portfolio, led the group’s mergers and acquisitions function across more than 25 deals, and ran finance and holding operations across Asia.

Björn holds an MBA from the University of California, Davis, awarded on scholarship, and a Master in Mechanical Engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology. He was commissioned as an officer in the Swedish Special Forces. He works in English, Swedish, French and German, and is based in Verbier, Switzerland.

At Charles Park, Björn brings institutional-grade investment discipline to families who want their capital compounded with the same rigour as the world’s leading endowments. He helps principals set strategy, construct durable portfolios, select and hold managers to account, and build the investment governance that keeps wealth working across generations.
